The new Natcan QSSP II Investment Fund Inc. shows much promise

SPECIAL COMMUNICATION

Montreal, May 13, 2009 – On May 11, the French-language newspaper Finance et Investissement published an article spotlighting the first issue of Class A, Series 2009 of the Natcan QSSP II Investment Fund Inc.

Natcan is the first investment firm to take advantage of the new version of the Quebec Stock Savings Plan. The first issue of the Fund, which closes on May 15, 2009, offers strong potential, particularly in terms of tax benefits. As Michael Quigley, Senior Vice President of Distribution at Natcan Investment Management Inc., pointed out in the article, “Clients can choose to buy or sell units at maturity and recycle their tax deduction without having to make another investment. They can’t do that with an RRSP.”

The article also highlighted Natcan’s expertise in small-cap equities. The firm’s network and market presence through a number of equity portfolios are key advantages. “We already carry out private placements in small and medium-size businesses and we often consult with them to learn more about their development plans,” explained Mr. Quigley. “This ensures that we always have a list of companies waiting for our next SSP issue, and in which we are interested in investing.”

In his opinion, the current economic situation will have little impact on the popularity of the Fund’s issues. He added, “If the stock market continues to recover, SSP investments may be in high demand by the fall.” This bodes well for the second issue of the Fund, which will be available from May 25 to June 23.
